Free MP3 Of The Day: Bush, “Everything Zen”

Our friends at recently relaunched their site, and to celebrate we’re helping them give away some fantastic songs for free! Today, we’re featuring “Everything Zen” from Bush.

“Everything Zen” was the biggest hit off Bush’s debut album Sixteen Stone, and with its distorted guitars, stop-start rhythm and gruff vocals it’s like a trip back to the post-Nirvana/Pearl Jam 1990s. Listening to it is like opening a time capsule to a powerful period in American rock n’ roll.

Though Bush was a UK band, they were part of the very much American grunge scene that exploded in the Pacific Northwest during the early 1990s. Arriving in full force with their debut Sixteen Stone, they quickly established themselves on this side of the Atlantic (actually signing a record deal in the US before they did in England).

“Everything Zen” and other early hits were reissued on Bush’s Zen X Four compilation. The collection includes live and acoustic versions of the songs, as well as a DVD of concert performances and behind the scenes footage of the band.

Check this classic slice of grunge and take a trip back to 1994, which – all jokes about flannel and long hair aside – was one of the most exciting times in American rock.
