Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd have been working hard on a script for Ghostbusters 3. They’ve even been sending script updates to Bill Murray, who has script approval if he’s going to be in the movie. After Bill wouldn’t answer producers’ calls about rewrites they sent him the latest rewrite weeks ago. Ramis and Aykroyd finally got an answer when Murray sent a box containing the new script shredded into confetti and a note saying: “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!”

This news should be taken with a grain of salt, as it’s being reported by The National Enquirer. They quote anonymous insiders saying a “furious Dan and Harold vow that Bill’s off their ‘who ya gonna call’ list forever – and they’ll make the movie WITHOUT him!”

This has been brewing for some time, two years ago Akroyd called Murray over script issues and told him “Stop acting like a jerk!” In past interviews, Aykroyd and Ramis have said they were looking for just the right story, one that would help usher out the original Ghostbusters gracefully, perhaps after training younger replacements. That reeks of more sequels, but with 1984’s Ghostbusters grossing $291 million, and the 1989 sequel grossed $215 million, a good Ghostbusters 3 could keep the franchise alive.

Murray has a reputation for being difficult and eccentric, which means he may decide to join the project later, if Ramis and Aykroyd allow it. I mean who wants to see Ghostbusters without Dr. Peter Venkman?

Here’s a look at some classic Ghostbusters moments:
