John Fogerty Adds Jennifer Hudson To His Guest List
John Fogerty is still hard at work on his upcoming album, Wrote A Song For Everyone, and has just added another star to his already impressive guest list. The former Creedence Clearwater Revival leader and Grammy/Oscar Award winning singer Jennifer Hudson got together in a New Orleans studio last week, along with legendary arranger/pianist Allen Toussaint, to record a new take on CCR’s “Proud Mary.” The track will also feature The Rebirth Brass Band, as well as local heroes Rockin’ Dopsie on washboard and and Anthony “Dopsie” Rubin on accordion. Given that the original simply featured guitar, bass and drums, expect this to be a very different take on the iconic song.
Wrote A Song For Everyone will feature new versions of Fogerty’s classics (from CCR and his solo catalog), as well as brand new songs. A partial track listing for the album is below: all of the revamped recordings are collaborations. There’s no word yet on whether or not the new songs (none of which have been announced yet) will feature any guests. The album is due out on October 9. Fogerty is kicking off a Canadian tour in September, with US dates expected to follow.
