Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have already announced a number of festival dates this summer, including Tennessee’s Bonnaroo, Alabama’s Hangout Festand Delaware’s Firefly Festival, but there’s more to come. 

Petty and co. just revealed that they’re kicking off a spring/summer tour that will include residencies in two cites.  They’ll do five nights at New York City’s Beacon Theatre starting May 20, and six nights at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre kicking off June 3, as well as playing larger venues in many other cities through May and June. The press release announcing the tour also mentioned this bit of information: The tour “comes as the band takes a break from the studio where they are recording their highly anticipated follow-up to 2010′s Mojo. The as-yet-untitled new record will be released on Reprise Records in 2014.” No word yet on whether they will be debuting new songs on this tour.
