Even though he’s lived a “charmed life,” Billy Idol knows all about dancing with himself and he’s writing an autobiography about those experiences while concurrently on a national tour.
“I’m three-quarters of the way through it; we’re actually editing at the moment,” Idol told Billboard (via Henne Music) . “It’s sort of my recollections, which is almost a massive joke ’cause I don’t remember anything! The bits I do remember…I’ve tried to give an overview of my career or my love of music or whatever, my personal way through life, maybe some thoughts about what I’ve done right or wrong in my life. In general it’s a bit of a walk through my career, just said in my own words, really.”
Idol claimed he’s not trying to sensationlize his life; the platinum hairpunk rocker is writing about things as he “saw them.” “I tried to honestly write about how I felt about things as they happened.”
With plans to play Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee on June 15th, Idol told Billboard that not only is he writing a book, but new music, probably in response to his fans crying “more, more, more.”
