Is Pearl Jam Announcing A New Album On Monday?
It’s been four long years since Pearl Jam has released a new album (Backspacer), but the band’s official website is hinting that there will be new news coming soon. Could it be an album announcement, or the lead single?
A clock on the PJ site is counting down to Monday at 1 p.m. ET (and the band even posted a Vine for those who don’t bother going to websites anymore).
The band hasn’t been idle since 2009, of course. They toured for Backspacer, as well as released the Cameron Crowe-helmed documentary PJ20 in 2011. 2011 also saw them releasing a new single, “Ole.”
The individual members have also kept busy. Frontman Eddie Vedder released his second solo album, Ukelele Songs, in 2011 and did a solo acoustic tour to support it. Last year, he joined Roger Waters for a stirring rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” at the 12-12-12 Concert For Sandy Relief event at Madison Square Garden.
Guitarist Stone Gossard has released two albums with his longtime band Brad (2010′s Best Friends? and 2012′s United We Stand) and, earlier this year, his second solo album, Moonlander. Bassist Jeff Ament has formed two new side projects: Tres Mtns (with Dug Pinnick of King’s X and ex-Fastbacks drummer Richard Stuverud) and RNDM (with Stuverud and singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur). And drummer Matt Cameron, of course, reunited with Soundgarden (he’s a member in good standing with both bands), and also formed a new project called Drumgasm with fellow drummers Janet Weiss and Zach Hill.
