For years, Debbie Harry of Blondie has been singing “call me,” but apparently she’ll be sending all those calls to voicemails soon. The still youthful 68-year-old has been discussing her imminent retirement with bandmates, says drummer Clem Burke.
According to an interview with the Daily Mail via Classic Rock Magazine, “Debbie is 11 years older than the rest of us, so it’s on her mind.”
“We’ve tried to keep it going for as long as possible, but it’s just not up to me,” elaborated Burke. “Nothing is finalised yet – but obviously there’s no Blondie without Debbie Harry.”
We’ll be really sad if this happens, plus Blondie has a new album coming out in the fall called Ghosts of Download. Plus, we have a feeling that there is more Blondie to come.
