For those of you still hoping that The Runaways will reunite after their 1980 split, Joan Jett says you basically need to hang up your pipe dreams and move on.
The 54-year-old rock goddess was a fresh-faced 21-years-old when The Runaways split up and she told L.A. Weekly via Gibson that a reunion would be more bad than good. Although Lita Ford supposedly wants to get back together and jam, Jett says there’s no point.
“I don’t really get why we should do it – the down side is bigger than the up side. It would be fun for people to see, but you’ve got to remember we’re not who we were in 1976. It’s not worth it to me. We had a great band that kicked ass for three and a half years. I’m very protective of it because it was very special to me,” said Jett. “To come back and have the press judge us… Plus, you can’t gauge the dynamics of the band. I’m just not sure it would be the reunion the fans are looking for.”
Jett is focused on her solo career and is releasing her 10th album with the Blackhearts, Unvarnished, in October of this year.
