Watch Metallica Perform On ‘The Colbert Report’

Although Metallica is always playing crazy-interesting gigs and is coming out with a motion picture called Metallica: Through The Never, the band rarely makes television appearances.

But in order to promote said film, the band appeared on The Colbert Report last night and played “For Whom The Bell Tolls” and “Master Of Puppets” for an online performance.

Colbert asks them if they are actually “angry” when they rock and if they have to be angry to rock as hard as they do. Lars responded, “It helps. Especially when you’re younger.” Colbert interrupts and asks James if he needs “anger viagra.” James blushes and says, “Well, we’re fifty on the outside and still growing up on the inside. So, it’s still there.”

Then there is some mention about “cups” and “balls.”

You’ll have to watch the performance and the video above to see what that means.
