Sinead O’Conner Escalates Miley Cyrus Feud with Third Open Letter
Sinéad O’Connor is ready for war.
The Irish singer continues to escalate her war of words with Miley Cyrus, penning her third open letter in two days directed at the pop star.
“You had plenty of time yesterday to abuse Amanda Bynes .. an entirely innocent party.. and myself.. who also did nothing to deserve your abuse,” O’Connor added, referencing Cyrus’ earlier tweets that mocked O’Connor’s past while simultaneously throwing Byne’s under the proverbial bus. “Along with every other sufferer of mental health problems and every person who suffered abuse at the hands of priests.”
O’Connor reiterated from her second letter that Cyrus needs to apologize both to her and Bynes or face the consequences in court.
“If you cannot apologize I will have no choice but to bring legal proceedings against you since it is extremely hard to be given work when people think one is suffering from mental illness,” O’Connor posted.
This online feud between the two singers was kicked off when Cyrus mentioned that her controversial “Wrecking Ball” video was inspired by O’Connor’s clip for “Nothing Compares 2 U,” telling Rolling Stone, “It’s like the Sinead O’Connor video [for “Nothing Compares 2 U”], but, like, the most modern version. I wanted it to be tough but really pretty – that’s what Sinead did with her hair and everything.”
O’Connor responded to the quote with her first advice-laden open letter to Cyrus, where she warned the young singer about the perils of being a woman in the music industry: “It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether its the music business or yourself doing the pimping.”
This all comes as Cyrus is preparing to release her fourth full-length album, Bangerz, which is due to hit the streets next Tuesday, October 8.
