Paul McCartney‘s forthcoming album New doesn’t drop until October 15, but he’s been giving fans a preview of the album during a slew of late night performances.
Last night (October 7) McCartney performed two new songs off the LP on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to an excited studio audience. While his performance of the slower album title track featured him playing a colorful piano center stage, “Save Us” took a more edgy approach with gritty guitar and a full band set up. Watch both performances below.
McCartney also played previous Beatles hit “Lady Madonna” to screams.
Due in stores on October 15, McCartney promises a versatile release with New, something he admits he was hesitant about.
“I was a little bit worried that you’d have so many different styles but then I thought back to a lot of Beatles albums where there’s crazy variety, so I thought, ‘Well, that’s okay.’”
Last month, McCartney took over the streets of Hollywood where he performed new tracks from his album as well as his older classics like the Beatles hits “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude” and “Magical Mystery Tour” before he chatted with Jimmy Kimmel about recording again at Abbey Road and his Beatles anxiety dreams.
“Let’s say I’m there with the Beatles, and we’re playing and the audience starts to leave,” McCartney said, before explaining that he sometimes wakes up in a cold sweat.
New will be released October 15.
