Be careful what you tweet, as it can lead to an arrest, and not necessarily of the person who tweeted it. This is the case for Rihanna. Not once, but twice her tweets have led to arrests in Thailand.
More recently, it was reported that Thai authorities arrested a bar owner in connection with a sex show that Rihanna witnessed during her trip to Thailand. In September, the singer took to Twitter to report a crazy night she had on the island of Phuket.
Officials said the bar owner faced charges of “obscenity and operating an entertainment venue without a permit.”
“Authorities found out about this bar the morning after Rihanna tweeted about it, but we were not able to catch them violating the law until Saturday night,” local district chief Weera Kerdsirimongkon said. “We had been waiting for them and finally caught them red-handed.”
This arrest comes just two weeks after Rihanna posed with a slow loris and posted the photo on Instagram. A protected animal, the photo caused two men to be charged with “possession of protected animals” which could amount to four years in prison and upwards of a $1,300 fine.
