T-Bone Burnett To Produce ‘Basement Tapes… Continued’ and New Gregg Allman Album

Producer T-Bone Burnett has reported, via his website, that he is working on a project that Bob Dylan‘s fans will be eagerly awaiting: The Basement Tapes… Continued. Dylan’s music publishing company recently discovered lyrics he wrote in 1967 for the sessions that were later released as The Basement Tapes (and widely bootlegged as Great White Wonder), and Dylan has given them to Burnett, who plans to “assemble a select group of contemporary recording artists in the famed Capitol Studios to complete the songs and record them as a band.”

Sam Jones – known for his Wilco documentary, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, will document the sessions for a film and photo book. Burnett’s has had a long association with Bob Dylan; he played guitar on Dylan’s 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour (and has also produced Bob’s son Jakob’s band, the Wallflowers, as well as one of his solo albums).

Burnett, who has in recent years produced albums by Elton John, Diana Krall, Steve Earle, Jeff Bridges, John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson, is keeping busy lately. He has just started a new imprint with Capitol Records called Electromagnetic Recordings, and he’s also scheduled to produce new albums by Gregg Allman (he produced Allman’s last effort, Low Country Blues) and rock and roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis.
