For Journey, the super typhoon in Haiyan may have hit closer to home than for most rock bands. While people around the world have been lending a hand to help the 11 million people affected by the horrible storm, Journey frontman Arnel Pined a is a Filipino who still lives in Manila when the band isn’t touring.

The storm not only affected millions of people, but killed 4,000 with its winds that reached up to 200mph.

Journey have donated more than $350,000 to victims of the storm that struck the Philippines earlier this month. In response to his countrymen being ravaged by the horrible storm, Pineda pledged $350k from himself, his bandmates, Live Nation, CAA, and his manager for the cause.

He’s also helping the World Food Programme to deliver 1.4 million meals to victims of the typhoon.

If you’ve liked to help, check out how you can make donations to the Red Cross.
