One Way Heavy Drinking Can Save Your Marriage
Not that we here at JACK FM don’t condone heaving drinking. But let’s face it, if you’re spending you time listening to our dumpy little radio station, chances are you’re a drinker.
Now that can cause a lot of stress on a marriage, for obvious reasons. But a recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo Research Institute on Addictions may just have the answer, and the type gal or guy you should be looking for, as Kenneth Leonard, PhD, explains in the above video from the University’s YouTube page.
The study follows about 600 newlywed couples. They were broken down into four different types: couples were neither partner were heavy drinkers, were only the husband drinks, where only the wife drinks, and where both partners were heavy drinkers.
In a not shocking result, about 50% of marriages where only one partner drinks heavily ended in divorce within nine years.
However, in marriages where both partners were heavy drinkers, the divorce rate drops to only about 35%, which is the same rate as marriages where neither partner was a heavy drinker.
The conclusion? If you like to drink, you better make sure your partner likes to drink too. That or, you know, the both of you should maybe stop drinking so much. Yeah, that might be the better option.
