A few weeks ago, Kraft announced that, for unknown reasons, it was suffering from a Velveeta shortage. Well now the story just got worse. 1.77 million pounds of Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles are now being recalled due to–wait for it–a labeling error, according to LAWeekly.
Apparently, Kraft “forgot” to list soy as an ingredient, which, if you happen to be allergic to soy, would be very bad indeed.
However, seeing that Kraft is already trying to capitalize off the Velveeta shortage, going to far as to call it a “cheesepocalypse,” many suspect the recall is all just part of one giant publicity stunt, something Kraft denies.
What do you think? Shortage or publicity stunt?
And obviously, if you are allergic to soy, don’t buy Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles, no matter what the ingredients say. If you have any questions, you can call Kraft Foods consumer relations at (800)396-5512.
