Soundgarden‘s classic 1994 album, Superunknown, was their commercial breakthrough, yielding a huge mainstream hit with “Black Hole Sun.” The album, with its rock radio friendly sound, also introduced the band to a whole new audience.
Grohl says his first reaction to the album was, “Holy s–t! This is gonna be huge! It was the perfect meeting of the Beatles and Black Sabbath.
