Mariah Carey Calls ‘American Idol’ ‘The Worst Experience of My Life’

For many people, getting a divorce is a pretty traumatic experience. But to hear Mariah Carey tell it, it doesn’t compare to sitting at a table, listening to pop star hopefuls with varying degrees of skill sing to you, while you sit next to other rich celebrities and get paid tons of money. According to People magazine, she made $18 million for her season on the show.

Carey, who recently split from husband Nick Cannon, told Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O show (via Billboard) that her season as a judge on American Idol was “the worst experience of my life.”

She was responding to their question of whether or not she would return to the show for the series finale.

“Hell, no!” was the answer.
