Survivor Not Pleased with Kim Davis’ Use of Their Song for Anti-Gay Marriage Message

by E. Parker

Survivor (the band) is not happy about the use of the band’s signature song, “Eye Of The Tiger,” at a rally to support the jail release of Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who denied marriage licenses to gay couples.

Survivor frontman Frankie Sullivan does not support Davis, who says issuing marriage licenses to gay couples infringes upon her religious beliefs. Davis was accompanied at a press conference by presidential hopeful and bass player Mike Huckabee.

“NO! We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger,’” he wrote on the band’s Facebook page. “I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin! C’mom Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that -See Ya really SoooooooonnnnnnN!!!!!!”

According to TMZ, the group is considering a lawsuit.

The song originally appeared on the film Rocky III, starring Sylvester Stallone and Mr. T and has since been synonymous with a fighting spirit and hard-won comeback.
