Elton John, Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, Patti Smith, Neil Young, Tom Morello, Mavis Staples, Sting, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Natalie Maines, Juanes, John Legend, Alabama Shakes, Emmylou Harris, Jim James and Mumford & Sons will all perform Springsteen songs. The theme of this year’s nominations could be taken in a number of ways, but when you look at the contenders up for all-powerful Album of the Year category, one thing is certain: it’s the year of the underdogs and the newcomers.
Bruce Springsteen nabbed three GRAMMY nominations Wednesday night, and the song that bears his name got two more. Meanwhile, “Springsteen” — the song by country singer Eric Church that name drops several Bruce classics — was nominated for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song.
