Didja catch Joe Walsh pluckin’ on an acoustic behind Sir Paul on SNL this past weekend?
A number of rock legends and some newer artists are contributing exclusive tracks (and a couple of other cool items) to help fund relief efforts in the south Brooklyn neighborhood of Red Hook.
Daryl Hall’s award-winning web-to-cable series Live from Daryl’s House celebrated it’s 60th episode with special guest Joe Walsh. The legendary Eagles guitarist appearance on the latest episode featured hits from his own catalog like “Rocky Mountain Way,” “Life’s Been Good” and a number from his recent release, Analog Man, called “Wrecking Ball,” plus Hall solo numbers “Someone Like You” and “Wrong Side of History.”
When much-beloved drummer/singer Levon Helm of The Band passed away on April 19, musicians from all genres and generations paid tribute at their concerts, in interviews and on Twitter. But on October 3rd at New Jersey’s Izod Center, a number of legends will pay tribute to him at a concert called “Love For Levon.”
Earlier this year, Paul McCartney released Kisses On The Bottom, a new album of pop standards that pre-date the rock and roll era (along with two new songs written in that style). And while he didn’t tour to promote it, he did perform the songs on the album at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles (where he recorded the album) on February 9.
Joe Walsh played in the first two All-Starr Bands (as well as Starr’s short lived late-’90s backing band, The Roundheads), and these days, is Ringo’s brother-in-law. He says that the first All-Starr Band was one of the greatest groups he’s ever played in. And as huge of an experience as that was, being a part of the Starr family is even more of an eye-opener.
Following what was easily the best week all year for new classic rock releases, it’s no surprise that a slew of legacy artists are making high debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart this week. […]
